Steve Martin & Martin Short Announce Performance at NJPAC October 30th
NEWARK, NJ – May 2, 2016 Longtime comedians Steve Martin and Martin Short will play a one-night only show at New Jersey Performing Arts Center on Sunday, October 30 at 7:00pm. The show, “An Evening You Will Forget for the Rest of Your Life,” includes stand-up, film clips, musical numbers and conversations about their lives in show business. Martin and Short will also be joined by the Grammy-winning Steep Canyon Rangers, the bluegrass band with which Martin frequently performs and keyboardist Jeff Babko.
The two veteran comics co-starred in the 1986 film “Three Amigos!” The longtime friends share an easy rapport, “move from banter to schtick with ease (Boston Globe)” and their acclaimed traveling variety show has performed to overwhelming audiences and rave reviews.
“It was obvious Martin and Short were thrilled to be on stage together,” reports the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “For comedy connoisseurs in the crowd, watching Martin and Short together, still at the top of their game, felt like the realization of a longtime dream.”
The Steep Canyon Rangers will round out the evening with musical entertainment. A bluegrass band at their core, they effortlessly walk the line between festival favorite and sophisticated string orchestra. Their mix of serious chops and good-natured fun earned them the 2013 Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album and drew banjoist Steve Martin to them when he needed a backing band. Fifteen years and nine studio albums since forming in Chapel Hill, the sextet worked with producer/dobro player Jerry Douglas for their most recent collection, RADIO.
