The Sheepdogs Announce the Release of Their Label Debut Album – Sept. 4th

When you take into consideration the credentials that have helped to launch Saskatchewan, Canada’s The Sheepdogs into the rock ‘n’ roll limelight, there is no doubting that their label debut album is highly anticipated by many.  “THE SHEEPDOGS” will be available everywhere on September 4th. Produced by the electric Patrick Carney of The Black Keys and Austin Scaggs, “THE SHEEPDOGS” compiles a multitude of influences to generate straight-up rock ‘n’ roll.

The album’s first single, “The Way It Is,” cuts to the bone and makes you remember that this is the way rock is supposed to be done. Look out for the single’s video, directed by comedy writers, directors, actors The Sklar Brothers and featuring a glut of up-and-coming comedians, within the upcoming weeks.

The Sheepdogs out-performed 15 other acts, hand-selected by Rolling Stone Magazine, AOL Music editors, and Atlantic A&R executives, to win Atlantic Records and Rolling Stone’s “Do You Wanna Be A Rock & Roll Star?” competition in 2011.  The band has already claimed the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine – the equivalent to being knighted by rock ‘n’ roll’s monarchy (not to mentioned that they were the first unsigned band ever to grace the cover).  As for performance credibility, The Sheepdogs have entertained tens of thousands of fans at the annual Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, rocked out on NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and taken the stage with supreme rock stars such as Kings of Leon, John Fogerty, Robert Randolph & The Family Band, and Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears.

Formed in 2006, The Sheepdogs have earned widespread acclaim for their passionate classic guitar rock that carries through just as powerful on record as during their live performances.  This band is genuinely a tribute to classic rock ‘n’ roll, having spent most of their time on the road and independently releasing three self-funded albums before being signed by Atlantic Records.  2010’s “LEARN & BURN” earned the band three JUNO Awards, including “New Group of the Year,” “Single of the Year,” and “Rock Album of the Year.”

To compliment the release of their new album, The Sheepdogs will take to the road with their first U.S. headline tour.  The tour will start on September 16th at the Rapids Theatre in Niagra Falls, New York, and continue coast to coast through late October.
